I was thinking about how many EPIC times we've had on our XC team, and I'm going to miss running.


The Emergency RoomI open my eyes to a white room with kids in stretchers across and beside me. I could hear my heart-beat on the screen to the left of my head, and I looked around. To my left there is a boy of about seven, who was bald and asleep. Leukemia, I thought silently to myself, poor kid. To my right was an empty stretcher, ready for another kid to inhabit it. The male nurse to my right looked up from his clip-board. "Oh," he said, beckoning to a doctor. "She's awake." The doctor came over to me. She had black hair and bright blue eyes.
